In fact, 7.1 million second hand cars were sold in 2012, roughly three times as many as new cars. The Citizens Advice Service dealt with 70,556 complaints about used cars between October 2012 and September 2013. Drivers who used our service spent over £363 million on 84,000 problems in the last six months.

To help people avoid making a bad used car purchase, we’ve launched a campaign to raise awareness about how to check if a used car is safe and legal and signpost people to places
